Sometimes, one will see aluminum doors installed in a mill finish to be painted at the job site. This is always a mistake. Even if a field applied PVDF coating is used, while the resulting finish might last longer than a conventional paint, its abrasion resistance will still be lacking compared to factory-applied PVDF or anodizing.
e-panel Aluminum Composite Panel e-panel is the Ultimate Substrate for Flat Sheet Applications. With many of the same great features as Alcan's Dibond® product.Masked both sides, the e-panel™ has .008" aluminum polyester painted facers with a solid black polyethylene core.
A: Acrylic resin (but not acrylic emulsion, which is the basis of acrylic paint) is a thermoplastic, which means it is one of a group of plastics which can be heated and manipulated repeatedly, whereas polyester resin and epoxy are thermosetting plastics, which use heat or a catalyst to solidify into a solid mass that won't melt down.
A mill finish is available in G-90 galvanized, Galvalume® and acrylic-coated Galvalume® (Acrylume®), for standard applications. It's also available in 3042B stainless and mill-finish, smooth 3003 aluminum for highly corrosive atmospheres too corrosive for zinc bonded carbon steel products.
The AlumaClear system is the proven way to protect expensive polished and mill finished aluminum equipment. It is an exclusive process developed to maintain that "fresh from the factory" shine on petroleum tankers, bulk tanks, dumps, gravel trains, livestock haulers, pumper tanks, wheels, fenders and all your miscellaneous aluminum projects.
For aesthetic purposes and the need for another layer of protection, a durable paint finish is applied over the panels during the manufacturing process. Paints for metal roofs are predominately based on organic or carbon compounds, such as polyester, acrylic and fluorocarbon.
